The Sid Lorraine Hat & Rabbit Club, founded in 1941, is the Toronto Ring of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. Meetings are held monthly from September to June and feature lectures, seminars and workshops from magicians from all over the world.

For more than 80 years, The Hat & Rabbit Club has been keeping the art of magic alive in Toronto. What began as a gathering of passionate professionals and hobbyists has grown into a vibrant community of conjurors with a rich tradition of welcoming world-class magicians to lecture, teach, session and share. From underground legends to internationally recognized performers, some of the finest minds in magic have shared their secrets, their history and their stories within our community.

But the real magic of Ring 17 isn’t just in the sleight of hand or the secrets. It’s in the camaraderie. The late-night jam sessions. The shared moment when a move finally lands side by side. The “a-ha” in a moment of recognition. We believe deeply in friendship, mentorship and the kind of community that forms when people gather around a common love and shared sense of wonder. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just learning your first coin vanish, you’ll find encouragement, generosity and great teaching in equal measure.

And when we step beyond our meetings, we do so with purpose. Through public performances and partnerships with local organizations, like Rotary clubs, hospitals, and food banks we aim to give back in meaningful ways. Because for us, a community-based club is also about building bridges and reminding ourselves and our city that it’s good to give back from time to time.

The Hat & Rabbit Club is about gathering as often as we can, sharing what we know, and growing together. Eight decades in, we’re still learning, still laughing and still finding new ways to make the impossible and a little bit of magic here in Toronto happen together.
